About Me
I’m Mariam — a photographer and visual storyteller from Cairo, now based in Berlin.
With a background in Media Design, Art History and Gender Studies, and a lifelong habit of turning emotions into something visual, photography has become my language — a way to pause and honour what’s real, fleeting, and quietly beautiful. My work lives somewhere between portraiture and documentary, shaped by light, nature, memory, and the inner landscapes we carry with us.
Over the years, I’ve often used myself as both subject and witness in my work — capturing personal transitions, emotional states, and the small shifts that mark time. It’s this same attentiveness I bring to others when I photograph them.
How I Work
My approach is intuitive, gentle, and collaborative. I don’t come with a fixed script or pose list — I listen. To the energy in the room, to your natural rhythm, and to the quiet unfolding of a moment as it happens.
Whether we’re working together for a portrait session, a creative idea you want to try out, or documenting a milestone in your life, I aim to create space. Space where you can be fully yourself, where movement isn’t forced, and where emotion leads the way. I’m drawn to the unguarded — a glance, a gesture, a moment of stillness that speaks.
This is documentary-style photography, but shaped by feeling. I believe that images can hold more than just how something looked. They can carry how it felt and be an anchor for your experience — a reflection. And sometimes, they even help us make sense of things we didn’t have words for and give us an entry into parts of ourselves we can’t quite find the words to describe.
Above all, I work with care, curiosity, and respect. Every session is a shared journey, and I’m there to guide when needed — but never to interrupt what’s naturally unfolding.
